The Green Public Procurement Information Network

GPPinfoNET The Green Public Procurement Information Network is a project financed by the European Commission within the Life+ programme 2007, component Information and Communication, that will last three years, starting in February 2009.

GPPinfoNET aims at promoting the green public procurement.

Life+ is the Financial Instrument for the Environment that offers specific support to measures and actions that have a European added value for the development, update and implementation of Community environmental policy and legislation, in particular the objectives of the Sixth Community Environment Action Programme.

In particular, the specific objectives of LIFE+ Information and Communication shall be:

  • to disseminate information and raise awareness on environmental issues, including forest fire prevention;
  • to provide support for accompanying measures, such as information, communication actions and campaigns, conferences and training, including training on forest fire prevention.

Child in a green field blowing on a flowerRegional networks for GPP are created within the project on the model of the Working Group on Green Procurement of the Italian National Association for Local Agenda 21. They shall represent the fundamental vehicle for increasing awareness on the role of green procurement and filling existing information gaps.
