The Project

Objectives and expected results

GPPinfoNET aims at overcoming obstacles that limit the diffusion of green public procurement (GPP), so as to favour the reduction of environmental impacts associated to the purchase of goods and services, prepare the ground for the introduction and implementation of National Action Plans for GPP and promote the implementation of GPP at national and European level.

Specifically, the project will thus increase the awareness about the role of GPP in the implementation of strategies for sustainable consumption and production and fill the information gaps that hinder the adoption of GPP practices.

Actions and tools

Regional networks for GPP are created within the project on the model of the Working Group on Green Procurement of the Italian National Association for Local Agenda 21. They shall represent the fundamental vehicle for increasing awareness on the role of green procurement and filling existing information gaps.

Each regional network will have:

  • a launch seminar;
  • a periodical newsletter;
  • four thematic discussion groups;
  • a dedicated page on the project website.

All networks will also have at disposal as operational guidance the updated CD-Rom Open Book of the Working Group on Green Procurement.

Promotion and dissemination

Small plant growingThe regional networks for GPP will promote dissemination activities and exchange of best practices over the course of the project:

  • National GPP days: Each year a day fully dedicated to GPP with fairs, thematic seminars and video-conferences, that will have its central event at the Cremona’s Forum CompraVerde-BuyGreen.
  • Interregional meetings for the exchange of best practices: Three interregional meetings for the exchange of best practices and for cooperation among regional networks and with other Italian and European regions aimed at developing GPP common promotion initiatives.
  • European conferences: Two European conferences to favour the diffusion of methods, tools and results.
